Some sort of ambient mebbee?

But it sounds pretty good, and that's what matters in the end, eh? While you seem to only have one of two short riffs throughout the entire song, you really keep it interesting by mixing up the instrumentation, rather smoothly too. The only thing I didn't quite like in this piece was the bass drum - feels too boomy and tends to draw too much attention to itself (which doesn't seem to fit the some equalitarian mantra of the rest of arrangment). Nice work overall, though.

HexMonkey responds:

Thank you. Your right about the bass drum it does kinda detract from it

Too much verb

I think you've got arrangment part down, but everything sounds way too boomy - you've got the reverb set too high for a piece like this. Hip-hop tracks usually don't have much reverb at all, especially not for the bass drums. Imagine someone trying to put lyrics in this piece - it'd be almost impossible to make sense of. Try doing this one again without so much reverb (add just a pinch you are really inclined) - it's really hard to hear for me as is.

IrishDrunkPunK responds:

yeah I was thinkin about toning down the reverb and just using a different kick. i actually have 2 kicks but one hits way harder.

Diggin' the riff

Hey, this version such much more improved overall. The 70s rock riff thing comes more clearer in this piece, giving it a more rock (though actually more 80s feeling with the synth stuff) feel than the last one. There's still a bit of problems near the end, but it's probably cause it's still the same vocal take and guitar take, right? Good stuff though.

BreakingFaces responds:

Thank you very much, and no, the vocal take isn't the same as the guitar take.

Nice/Bad Geetarz?

But if I listen to this too loud, it kinda starts to grate at my ears. Guess the guitar sound doesn't sit well for me for some reason, even though I did like the music - especially those atonal sounding parts. Drums are alright, but feel a bit weak in the mix. And that's that I guess.

yeah i know what you mean i dont expect anything fir this song its just here to kinda see where i was 3 years ago

Nice arrangment

The performance seems to be pretty rockin' too - just too bad the recording quality is shit (I'm almost hearing as much distortion as I am the instruments). I doubt you can fix this just be tweaking the levels; unless you've completely fucked this mix, it's more likely that the original recordings of the instruments were really messed up. You'd really need to rerecording this to get it sounding presentable - I'd also add some another repeat or two with variations to get it at a better length, as the ending feels really abrupt in this one. Still, it sounds like you guys really have potential though - don't let it go waste.

ProjectGodMode responds:

yeah i think you need to check yourself before you wreck your self

i got your message disregarding your review

hear that everybody?

this asshole thinks its cool now

Now this is nice

Nice job incorporating the horror techno theme into this piece, and then completely taking it to the next level. Really like the variations in each section, and the different kicks you've used to change the feel of the piece. My main complaint would be on the mixing side - this thing is way, way, way too loud, to the point where distortion is really noticable. It's not that it's even overcompressed or anything - literally, looking at the waveform it's like clipping like 90% of the time. I know you want to keep it intense, but you can't just mash the levels all the way up for everything - you gotta use dynamics processing (ie, compression) to boost your levels. But yeah, the music itself is pretty cool, really big improvements from the other one. Great job with this!

DjThunderbass responds:

i know distortiono is my thing that i suck at i just don't know how to get rid of it dude its freaking hard

Daft Punk on Acid

This does have a Daft Punkish feel, but with an atonal splash and more agressive execution. Sounds like it might not be a bit outside of mainstream appeal, but very well made (ie, nice balance, use of panning, effects, etc). I would've like to have seen a more contrasting second section to give this style some more reinforcement and more intentionality, but it's good as is. So yes - enjoy I did :).

Bouncy and mysterious?

Really interesting combination of a really bouncing groove and mellow, mysterious sounding pad chords. I'm not sure if it works completely, but it doesn't abrase the ears. The drums sound pretty activated, but the pads probably need some sort of filter or dynamic (effects) added on (since you're basically sustaining chords for half-minute intervals. That would keep the whole mix consistently interesting I think. Not a bad effort though for "random...Boredom ftw" songs though ;).

LollipopNightmare responds:

Thank you so much for your comment!

Like the ACID and soundbytes

Sounds rather dark, but bouncy enough to rave to definitely hehe. I liked the ACID bass in this, especially when you filter it around. The soundbytes you added in the middle were a nice touch too. The beat was pretty consistent, but you seem to add enough stuff around it to keep it interesting. I was kind of expecting more alien/weird effects and stuff though, but that riff you used in the intro and later on does a good job of reinforcing the mysterious feel. All in all, very solid stuff; keep it up!

itsameyayo responds:

Thanks shizeet! ACID bass, that's what they call it, eh? Well, shows how electronically illiterate I am :D

-Cool though, and yeah, those FX were fun fun fun!

Sounds like a nice song, could use better mixing

I like the general grooviness of this piece, and vocals seem pretty nice, but it was hard to make them out in the mix. You probably should turn down the bass and the electric guitar chords down some more so that they don't obscure the vocals - though they do sound like good levels for an instrumental. The climax near the end was pretty cool )though sounded fairly clipped), and I wished it'd had gone into a new section to extend the song. But what you have here is pretty good. Just need to watch the levels some more in the future.

BreakingFaces responds:

Thanks, dude.
