Cool sounds

I'm really enjoying your selection of instruments, though the metallic percussion gives me more of a southeast asian feel. I'm not really feeling the solo marimba part though, and some of the transitions feel kind of rough. I liked the style change from the first section to the second, but the other ones felt too abrupt - it doesn't really loop all that well either. I think you should try to expand on the sections some more and just make it full-fledged song. Some real potential here.

Thanks for the review. I'll probably keep working on it if I keep getting comments like this

Trippy

Really like this non-drummed approach, but for some reason the instrument choice doesn't rub me the right way. Sounds too distorted, and not in an intentional manner either. Maybe it's just me though - like the idea, for sure.

Urpule responds:

Yeah thanks alot i was kinda try something diffrent .. the distortion is what i as kinda going for.. . try listening to it with head phone it sounds better i think.. thanks for reply and PEAce

Quirky

Certainly sounds umm, unique I guess. Very ecletic sounding type of piece. I wouldn't call it normal happy-ish though - sounds like someone's seriously trippin', hah.

A bit minimal, but good

Really like the shifting ambient organ sounds, but not so much of the buzzing bass. The two instruments don't blend very well, with one being so harsh and the other so mellow. The drums also feel really subdued for a DnB piece, but that could work if you had a more mellow bassline following.

Interesting ideas, but mixing problems

You have some neat ideas, but the instruments don't really seem to blend well. The reverb seems kind of inconsistent for some reason, especially in the flute, like it would get cut off or start late. The snare probably should have some reverb added as well so it's not so in your face feeling. Basically, just try to play around with the reverb some more so that everything sounds like it's coming from the same hall or whatever.

Musically, it's brief but not bad, especially the first part with the flute and choir mix. Doesn't really remind me of Chiaky, but it's already.

Sum

It doesn't sound too classical piano to me anyhow, so you should just keep the delay - it makes it sound good. Some of the chords didn't sound too good, but I liked the piece overall - feels kind of free and mysterious.

Lamplighter responds:

Okay, sure. This is my first piece, so I'm still working on all the musical details. :) I'm glad you liked it, though!

Loop-happy

Well, it clearly sounds like you've strung along a bunch of loops together, but at least they sound alright ogether. The strings sound nice and clear for the most part, but the bass line and drums needs to be more pronounced though, and the pizzicato parts have a strange double-tap at parts.

Engaging

I actually didn't find this to be that repetitive at all, and this is coming from someone who normally finds trance to be quite boring and repetitive. Sure the drums and bassline remains same throughout, but you manage to keep the other parts all shuffling around which keeps it quite interesting - there's never a moment where the music feels like it's stagnating.

Death-9 responds:

Thanks! I do try :)

Nice and mellow

It's a simple tune, but it's nice and enjoyable. Only thing that was a bit distracting is when you stopped for a different take, which is really audible in the recording. Might want to filter out some of that noise that gives it away.

Boux responds:

yeah going to work on that

A bit too repetitive

I like the phased/distorted drums, but they get kind of annoying when playing back to back without any significant changes. You might want to keep them more in the background, since they kind of distract you from the other instrument which does change occasionally.
